luxury accommodation Mozambique

That’s why we named it Nuarro!

The Nanatha bay ends at a wonderful point known as Nuarro, formed from ancient coral rock which has eroded over aeons of time. Because we wanted the lodge to be built by local people and to utilise local materials, we decided to give the lodge a local name. That’s why it’s called Nuarro!

The colourful capulunas of Mozambique
If you visit Mozambique you will see colourful capulanas everywhere. They are an important feature of life in Mozambique.

A woman’s wealth is measured by the number of capulanas she has. The capulanas are used as wrap-around skirts, headscarves, sheets, towels, as well as to carry babies in. This brochure’s design is inspired by the beautiful capulanas of East Africa.

The Lodge

Reception
Nuarro’s guests are welcomed in a very special reception area positioned at the top of the dune to reveal the magnificent Memba bay in small doses. This building leads to the Beach Bar and Marine Activity Centre. From here our visitors can enjoy the bush lined walkways to their chalets, take the beach route or be driven, if more convenient.
There is a safe room for storage of valuables and luggage storage room.
A computer for internet access is available.
Next to the reception is the office area, where managers are available at all times to attend to any need.

The Restaurant
A panoramic high-class Restaurant & Cocktail Bar is located on the west end of the beach with view to “Nanatha Island Rock” and the bay beyond. Fresh seafood and salads will form creative menu, which incorporates traditional and international cuisine.
The restaurant area has sunken lounge area with library where coffee/tea and home-made cakes and cookies are served in the afternoons. This will be open from August 2010 onwards.

Beach Bar
To relax the day away, chill out after an activity or simply watch the whales pass by (seasonal). The Beach Bar is a great informal spot where light snacks can be enjoyed throughout the day and more lively parties in the evening time.
The Beach Bar is located next to the Marine Activity Centre with a large joined wooden deck giving a full sea view and beach access.
Comfort and informal atmosphere are the themes at this space.
